we went to st. louis on the 29th. we originally had a trip to chicago planned but then as the time got closer and closer to go, we imagined walking around the streets of chicago (which are fun to walk when WaRm) in the snow with a baby. just a liiiitle stressful, so we cancelled our trip. but too a short trip to st. louis to shop. we stayed in a hotel downtown which was an experience to say the least. when we first got to our room and i was so excited to go potty, i open the toilet seat and there was someone else's pee caked all over the seat. um, NASTY. so we called for another room and when we got there, there was a pub in the toilet, and a chewed off nail on the floor by the bed. uggg, whatever so we just dealt w/ it. (btw, the hotel was the millennium hotel, don't ever stay there if you can help it). we had a good view of the arch out our window though (as shown). baby boy had a terrible nights sleep. we were bad and lost his blankie on the drive somehow so there was something lacking the entire night and maybe because he could see us and he was in an unfamiliar environment made him wake up at 3:30 a.m. for the day. and tired and ornrey was he! he just would not go back to sleep so we hung out til breakfast at 6:30 and came home. atleast i got to load up on clothes at h&m. i haven't loaded up on clothes whatsoever all year so it was time.

this is b on our date night for new years. grandma & grandpa watched the little guy and we had our first (much needed) date night since october. it was a great night out! we ate at the blue bird cafe downtown, a cozy little joint that serves mostly locally, organically grown food, it was FABULOUS. we then went to a few different parties, one friends house being my dream house with the antiquey anthropologie overtones, i can't stop thinking about it. we came home early to get ahead of the drunkies that would be out after new years. we then slept in a bit and went snowboarding the next day.

baby boy played at the little foam playground at the mall yesterday and rode the carousel. he looooved it. he oooed and aaaahed and pointed the whole time on the ride. it was so sweet. he's got at least one new tooth completely in now and i can't tell if there's more because he won't move his tongue out of the way for me. he's big on saying food is "hot" then blowing it off to cool it and he is really good at puzzles. we have those puzzles by melissa & doug that have the picture underneath the shape when you take it out and he puts them back in the right spot everytime, it's amazing! he is also loving books, always picking one out to crawl into one of our laps to read it to him. and i swear every time i look at him he looks more and more grown up!
