constipation?

so, baby boy started screaming at like 6:20 tonight. there was nothing we could do to calm him down. we changed him into his jammies & tried rocking him & putting him to bed...bottle...food...drive in the car...nothing worked. he just kept screaming and screaming, and i think he was wearing himself out inbetween the screaming because every 10 minutes or so he would calm down & try to close his sweet little eyes to sleep but then he's just start screaming again. teething? no don't think so, he didn't even scream this bad when he popped his 6 teeth in the first time around. so about 7:45 we took him to children's mercy - my parents were sweet enough to drop what they were doing & meet us there. the hospital did all the routine stuff then took some x-rays of his chest, back and stomach. the only thing they could find was...poop. lots of it. i guess he hasn't gone since yesterday a.m. but i didn't know that short amount of time would cause such a fit!

the nurse put a suppository in his...y'know...we still have yet to see the results from that. after about 2 hours of straight screaming, he finally passed out (sleeping) in the e.r. room & then kept waking up rolling around in dis-comfort and crying then falling asleep again. yes, we freaked out but we just wanted to make sure he was ok. he's never cried like that before, and if he did, he was usually pretty comforted by one way or another...before we left he developed a 100.2 fever - but the doc said that's not a temp to be worried by yet...we were there for almost 4 hours...

we're supposed to keep a close eye on him through the night, check his fever, make sure he responds to us waking him up, etc. but as for now, it just looks like constipation. how sad...and poor little baby to have sooo much pain! and we'll hope it's not more than that because if his little fever goes up we have to bring him back to the hospital to get blood work done to make sure he doesn't have some sort of...infection?

How scary and weird... do they know what would cause him to be constipated like that? Did he finally poop? I hope he feels better soon...

he finally went a few times today so i think he's ok. it just really freaked us out that we couldn't calm the poor boy down...we also think we might test out rice milk for a month, his stomach has been real wierd since he's fully been on whole milk...
